The Best American Science and Nature Writing 2019 will include an essay by Shannon Stirone, initially published in Longreads. Mariner Books will publish the anthology on October 1, 2019.
Definite Article commissioned Stirone’s piece, “Welcome to the Center of the Universe,” as a part of its editorial collaboration with Longreads. The piece tells the story of the men and women who use the Deep Space Network to talk with long-departed satellites.
